New and improved version!
There are many reasons why parrots pluck, and a few common causes of feather plucking are
- not receiving enough nutrients in the diet
- chelated calcium deficiency
Our feather plucking rescue pack helps your bird get the nutrients they need that encourage feather growth, regain calcium levels and reduce stress levels associated with feather plucking.
How is calcium linked to my bird plucking?
Calcium is involved in both nerve and muscle function. Calcium deficient birds often show nervous behaviour such as fear, aggression and feather plucking.
Is this rescue pack better than providing my bird a cuttlebone?
Yes! Most of the cuttlebone that is eaten goes straight out in the poop and the calcium is not absorbed into the bloodstream. Calcivet uses a chelated mineral technology similar to the calcium supplied in nature by plants. So, it is easily absorbed and quickly gets to the bones, nerves and muscles where it is needed. It is so effective that for most of the year, your birds will only need Calcivet twice a week.
The NEW feather plucking rescue pack contains:
50ml Calcivet liquid calcium supplement
Calcivet is a highly concentrated liquid calcium supplement with added vitamin D3 that can improve behavioural problems such as feather plucking.
50g EasyBird Complete Pet Supplement
EasyBird Complete Pet Supplement is the most comprehensive supplement for pet birds in the world. It is a complete bird vitamin and mineral supplement that contains full spectrum vitamins, Rapisorb minerals, essentials oils, limiting amino acids, highly bioavailable calcium, complete and balanced protein and herbal immune and digestive support.

Add 15 drops per 100ml of drinking water twice a week (15 drops per 200ml in hard water areas). Give five days a week for the first month and reduce that to twice a week after that.
The high early dose is because calcium deficient birds have low reserves in their bones. Early supplies get sucked up by the bones so the nerves can still be denied adequate quantities. It is the movement of calcium in and out of blood, nerves, muscles and bones that leads to the variable severity of calcium related symptoms
EasyBird Complete Pet Supplement:
Sprinkle over fresh or moist food 5 or 6 days a week. About 1 pinch per 2 small finches, 1 pinch per canary; 2 pinches per budgie and 2-3 pinches per cockatiel (1 pinch = 0.16tsp)
For larger parrots: 1/3rd level teaspoon per African grey/Amazon, 2/3rds level teaspoon per macaw
Bioplus Pre and Probiotic:
Add over fresh or moist food daily. 1 pinch for 3 pairs of finches/canaries, 1 pinch per 2 pairs of budgies, 1 pinch per pair of cockatiels, 1 pinch for one Amazon/African Grey, 3 pinches per macaw.
If your bird does not eat fresh or moist food, add 1 level teaspoon per 1 litre of drinking water. Do not use in the same drinking water as Aviclens.
Safety and storage notes
Replace with clean drinking water everyday. Do not allow birds to drink for more than 1 day as bacteria, algae and biofilm grow quickly in water, especially with added supplements in water. Feeder bowls have to be scrubbed thoroughly at least once daily with dish-washing detergent and sponge with the same level of hygiene when cleaning human cutlery.
